Spike, Bob and Softie crept out of the imaginations of Queensland schoolchildren and into the real world in 2013, and have been roaming between Woodford Folk Festival (WFF) and the streets and beaches of the Sunshine Coast ever since.
Daniele was invited to collaborate on this community development arts project as Creative Realiser. Working with schools in the Sunshine Coast, Woodford and Gold Coast area, he invited students on a pictorial exploration of Monsters. From these original concepts by the children, three images were selected to be brought to life. The 3D design and construction process included frequent consultation with the three young artists, who were delighted and amazed to see their imaginings realised.
The Monsters premiered in a roving show at the Surf Club in Mooloolaba on Nov 2013 and, led by their leashes by their young inventors, they performed in front of 15000 people at the WFF Opening Ceremony and with fellow monsters in the 2015 Fire Event. The Monsters roving shows have become a daily feature of WFF 2013, 2014 and 2015.
